Alex Cory - is the son of Sandy Cory and Blaine Ewing.

Alex arrived in Bay City two years ago and got a position at his grandfather, Mac Cory's, company, Cory Publishing. He is the head of the Web Division at Cory and is an artist as well. Alex is gay and when he was a teenager ran away from home to Claxton, WY. There he stayed with a childhood friend named Rud Winslow. Rud is the son of the red-neck, Buzz Winslow, who dated Alex's mother Blaine when she was young. Buzz fell off a cliff to his death while fighting with Alex's father, Sandy.

Alex and Rud sold drugs in Chicago for a drug/prostitution ring. Alex eventually turned Rud in and Rud went to jail. Alex did this because his sister, Maggie Cory, was getting hooked on drugs. Rud returned to Bay City in July of 2009 after getting out of jail. He was angry with Alex when he arrived. At first, things didn't look so great between the old friends. However, a romance blossumed, and Alex and Rud realize they loved each other. They decided to move into an apartment together at Dennis Wheeler's gallery apartments.

Before they moved, Alex and Rud found a diary in Sally Frame's old room in the Matthew's house. Alex was renting a room there when he first moved to Bay City. Sally had hidden it there before she died underneath the floorboards. Alex decided not to read the diary, but changed his mind when he began to suspect that someone may have killed her. Alex and Rud thought, from reading Sally's diary, that she was murdered or may still be alive.
